 Wim Hazeu has been an alderman in the city of Maastricht since 2002. He graduated at the Agricultural University of Wageningen , in the field of land development sciences. He worked at the province of Limburg for eight years. After he had been an active conservationist for many years, he became interested in politics and was councillor and later alderman in Maastricht, with the portfolios mobility, nature, environment, water and waste, monuments and building inspectorate, including the A-2 tunnel project. In his view Maastricht should take the lead to combat climate change and he is working on an action program for the city to have reduced CO2 emission with 50% in the year 2050. Wim is not only an enthusiastic alderman, he is also an active, cycling family man. With his partner, Wilma, he takes care of their two daughters Lara (3) and Meike (1).
