 Dr. Roefie Hueting is the first eco-economist in The Netherlands and one of the first worldwide. At the beginning of the seventies he drew the conclusion that the correct prices of products cannot be determined in the national income because environmental functions which are lost in the production process cannot be calculated. He designed a Sustainable National Income, which comprises a level of production that does not threaten the physical living conditions of coming generations. The estimate of the Sustainable National Income assumes preferences for eco-sustainability and results in an alteration in price relations between products with or without eco-tax. Roefie Hueting is also a passionate jazz pianist.
